WORLD BOOK DAY

YEAR OF THE E-BOOK?

The e-book is clearly here to stay - and it’s not just the young who are enthusiastic adopters; a recent poll indicated that more people over the age of 55 own e-readers than the younger generations. With greater disposable income, it’s the middle-aged who might well be leading the spear-heading the reading public’s shift from paper to pixel.

But it’s unlikely that printed pages between hard or soft covers will disappear entirely - or at least not any time soon. For all the advantages of the e-book - it’s portable, it’s cutting-edge and it means you can take as much literary fodder on holiday as you like without busting your baggage allowance - there’s something tremendously comforting about a book, an object that has been road-tested for both its attractiveness and practicality for hundreds of years.

Let's celebrate reading a great book and having some coffee.
